Ahead of his return to the Octagon this weekend at UFC 260 against Thomas Almeida, Sean O’Malley has told his critics to bet against him.

O’Malley suffered his first professional MMA loss last August, when he was TKO’d by Marlon Vera at UFC 252 after suffering an ankle injury early in the first round. Seven months later and ‘Suga’ revealed that he’s still receiving messages from fans telling him that they lost money betting on him.

‘Don’t Bet On Me’

Speaking with Helen Yee (as transcribed by BJPenn.com), O’Malley advised his critics to bet on his opponent this time around.

”I would tell you guys to bet on me, but I said that last time and I still get messages from people saying I owe them a thousand bucks,” O’Malley explained. “So don’t bet on me. Bet on Thomas. Bet on Thomas to win. There you go.”

As far as his fight with Almeida is concerned, O’Malley expects it to be a striking contest throughout, which he is confident of winning by knockout.

”I’m healthy. I feel good. I’m so excited for this fight. I think it’s going to be a badass kickboxing fight,” O’Malley said. “I don’t think he will try and come out and wrestle me. He’ll gas himself out. He’s not going to be able to take me down. I think it’s going to be a good kickboxing fight and I just don’t see how I don’t put his lights out.”

Future Plans

Ideally, O’Malley would like to fight three times this year. However, he said that he’s not looking too far ahead, and is focused on the task at hand.

“I’d like to get in at least three fights this year,” O’Malley said. “Four used to always be the goal but in the UFC, there’s injuries [and] there’s things that can happen. Once you get higher up in the rankings, there’s guys that have fights booked, there’s this, there’s that, so I’d like to get three fights in this year.

“Right now I’m in such a good mindset. March 27th [is] the only date in my mind that matters right now so I’m gonna get to that fight [first and] I’m gonna take out Thomas.”

Do you think Sean O’Malley gets back to winning ways against Thomas Almeida at UFC 260?
