Dustin Poirier says he is going to stop Conor McGregor again in their trilogy fight, set to take place in the UFC 264 main event on July 10th.

Poirier and McGregor are tied at 1-1. The Irishman took the lead in 2014 during his featherweight days, when he TKO’d ‘The Diamond’ in the first round at UFC 178. The Louisiana native avenged his loss by finishing his foe in the second round of their lightweight bout at UFC 257.

Stopping McGregor Again

Speaking to ESPN (as transcribed by BJPenn.com), Poirier said that he’s going to stop McGregor again in their trilogy fight.

“I’m going to stop Conor again,” Poirier said. “July 10th I’m going to get my hand raised and I’m going to finish Conor McGregor again.”

While he’s confident of stopping McGregor a second time, Poirier isn’t giving a specific prediction. Unlike the former two division UFC champion who often predicts when and how he gets the job done.

“I don’t do all that. I just show up ready to scrap,” Poirier added.

McGregor’s $500,000 Donation

Although the two mended their relationship ahead of UFC 257, things got sour between the two once more when Poirier took to social media to criticise McGregor for failing to deliver on the promise of a $500,000 charity donation to his Good Fight Foundation.

McGregor cited Poirier’s failure to provide proof of the foundation’s intentions for the money as his reason for not following through with the donation. Instead, ‘The Notorious’ donated the same amount to another charity in Louisiana, which the former interim champion has worked with in the past.

While Poirier’s charity didn’t get the promised amount, he’s happy that his community are still getting the help they deserve, one way or another.

“That’s so incredible, man, because at the end of the day, helping the community, helping people in need, was the mission and goal from the jump,” Poirier said. ”From when I used to auction eBay stuff before I had the foundation, whenever we used to do small things in the community. It’s always been the goal, so at the end of the day, charity wins. It’s mission accomplished.

“I see a lot of people that want to attach negativity and say that that was a slap in the face, this and that stuff. When it comes to donation, Conor didn’t donate it to my charity, but it’s not my money. It’s the people’s money. I don’t know why people would think that or where they would get that from, but the charity wins at the end of the day, so it’s great. It wasn’t a slap in the face. It was a high five because the people in the community are gonna win.”
